Creating a Unique Main Street
on the 800 to 1200 Blocks of Granville Street

Heritage Vancouver invites you to participate in an evening of conversation about turning the south end of Granville Street into a unique main street for the downtown south neighbourhood.
Guests speakers:
George Affleck, City of Vancouver Councillor;
Trevor Boddy, Architecture Curator, Critic and Consultant, and
Anthony Norfolk, Heritage Vancouver, involved in the events leading up to the 1990 paper mentioned below
They'll present ideas about what we could do to create a dynamic and unique main street while at the same time preserving the heritage character of one of Vancouver's oldest commercial streets.
An extract from a 1990, Community Arts Council Paper stated, "the long-term success of Granville Street hinges on the retention of its diversity of mainly low-rise buildings and its human scale….Because of the physical sweep of Granville Street and the fact that it draws the viewer visually from the bridge towards the mountains, it is crucial that the entire length of the street remain lowrise".

Heritage Vancouver's fabulous evening at the Penthouse Nightclub is back again after last year's fire forced its cancellation. Join owner Danny Filippone for a night of stories, food, drink, and entertainment as he takes you on his famous "behind the scenes" tour of the historic family business. Aaron Chapman, author of the recently released book Liquor, Lust, and the Law: The Story of Vancouver's Legendary Penthouse Nightclub, will join Danny in a presentation which includes never before heard stories from the club's fascinating past..
