In April, we will be having the second installment of our periodic get-togethers where Heritage Vancouver members and others interested in our city’s heritage can mingle with board and staff to learn about important topics, ideas or news happening in heritage. This get-together will address the current state of the heritage program in Vancouver in several ways. We will talk about upcoming updates to the heritage program (going to council beginning on April 24th) based on what has been made public so far, the heritage incentives which have gone to council and passed -such as the Heritage Incentive Program (HIP) and the return of the transfer of density tool- and Donald Luxton’s related work on a Historic Context Statement and Thematic Framework for the Heritage Action Plan. City Archivist Heather Gordon will be there to give a brief introduction to the archives and their work. Thank you to the City of Vancouver Archives for providing a great, open, and welcoming space for us to meet and hold this gathering. The City of Vancouver Archives is a space that acquires, preserves, and makes accessible the records of the municipal government and its various boards and agencies, as well as private-sector records and other recorded information that document the City’s history.
We invite you to the Vancouver Archives on April 15 to join us for a casual evening of discussing heritage and having a look at the archive space!
